Release notes for LhA V1.10
"362 Recompiles later"
Copyright © 1991,92 By Stefan Boberg
Released 14-Jan-92
==========================================================================
Unfortunately (but not unexpectedly), the initial V1.00 release of LhA
had quite a few problems, which have all been corrected in this release.
All commands are now implemented, and some options have been added. For a
detailed list of what has been changed and added, please read the
`update.txt' file in the distribution archive.
PLEASE DO NOT REDISTRIBUTE THE PROGRAM WITHOUT THE DOCUMENTATION - the
license agreement clearly states that you must not do this, so please
follow these rules and do not redistribute the executable by itself.
There are some things worth noting about this version:
o File collection and recursive file collection in particular is still
a bit inefficient with multiple patterns. No real problem however.
o The LhASFX program is now being distributed separately, it is
available for anonymous FTP at lysator.liu.se as
`/pub/amiga/LHASFX110.RUN'. V1.10 contains some bugfixes from version
1.00.
o LhA now has all the capabilities LZ and LhArc has, except for archiving
of empty subdirectories.
o The compression of LhA V1.10 is better than that of V1.00 on some files,
this is because of a bugfix in the compression code. It's no big
difference, but noticeable nevertheless.
o A rare decompression bug has been fixed, and handling of corrupt
archives much improved.
o The manual has been tidied up and now treats the evaluation version
only. Some documentation errors have also been fixed.
o People using the PowerPackerPatcher apparently has some problems with
LhA not determining the right file size; this is no bug or quirk in
LhA, it's all PPP's fault - don't blame me.
==========================================================================
I hope there are no problems with this release, and I apologise for any
inconvenience the bugs in the V1.00 version may have caused. But it was
the very first public release of the program and as such is it almost
bound to have some problems.
